Storm closes U.S. 20 in eastern Idaho
RIGBY - Low visibility caused by blowing and drifting snow has closed U.S. 20 between Island Park Lodge and Idaho 87, milepost 394 to 403.
Also, a semi tractor-trailer rig has gone off the highway. The driver was not injured.
Blowing and drifting snow has plagued the mountainous areas of eastern Idaho since Wednesday afternoon, keeping maintenance crews working throughout the night to keep roads passable.
There is no estimate of when the highway will re-open.
The crash occurred one and one-half miles north of Hungry Bear Restaurant in the Island Park area.
The truck was northbound, when the driver lost control and the truck left the road. The semi apparently jack-knifed.
High winds also prompted the closure of a segment of U.S. 20 near the Montana border earlier today.
Motorists should dial 5-1-1 or check the Idaho Traveler Services Web site for the latest state highway conditions.
