Construction update for eastern Idaho for Aug. 11-16
RIGBY - Here is the eastern Idaho highway construction update for Aug. 10-16:
Sunnyside I-15 Interchange to I-15B: Traffic on Interstate 15 south of Idaho Falls is one lane in each direction between mileposts 114 and 120. The speed limit is 55 mph. Idaho Construction of Kimberly is the contractor for the $23 million project that includes a new interchange, bridge and connector road. Completion is scheduled by fall 2006.
U.S. 20, Hitt and St. Leon interchanges: Traffic has been routed over the new interchange bridges north of Idaho Falls. Traffic is reduced to a single lane in each direction and the speed limit is 55 mph between mileposts 311 and 313. Construction is taking place on the on- and off-ramps and access roads that connect the two interchanges to U.S. 20 and Hitt and St. Leon roads. Western Construction of Boise is building the $19 million project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of October.
U.S. 20/Holbrook Road: Traffic on the South Rigby overpass will be reduced to a single lane during the seal coating of the on- and off-ramps, approaches and bridge deck.
Idaho 33, Canyon Creek Bridge: The concrete deck is being poured for the new bridge over Canyon Creek east of Newdale. The speed limit is 45 mph. An eight-hour closure is planned later this month when the middle section of the new bridge deck is poured. The date and times of the closure will be announced. Sletten Construction of Great Falls, Mont., is scheduled to complete the $4.3 million project by fall.
Idaho 33, Teton East and West: Zollinger Construction of Rexburg is paving the highway from Sugar City to Newdale. Traffic is reduced to a single lane and is guided by pilot car. Speed limit is 35 mph.
I-15, Hamer to Dubois, northbound: Traffic is reduced to one lane in both directions between mileposts 150 and 168 for paving of the northbound I-15 lanes. Western Construction of Boise is the contractor on the $5.2 million project, scheduled for completion by Labor Day.
Seal Coats: H-K Contractors of Idaho Falls is seal-coating 11 miles of U.S. 93 from milepost 326 to 337 and Ashton South of U.S. 20 from milepost 353 to 360 this week. Next week crews are scheduled to seal-coat Idaho 32, Fremont County line to Ashton from milepost 8 to 28, followed by I-15, Hamer to Dubois, Northbound from milepost 150 to 168. Motorists are reminded to slow down and keep a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid windshield damage. The project extends from the Idaho 47 junction east of Ashton to the Fremont County line.
