Improvements on Lorenzo Bridge to begin Monday (March 30)
RIGBY ‑ Maintenance on Lorenzo Bridge on U.S. 20 north of Rigby will slow traffic as crews begin work to improve the ride for motorists starting Monday (March 30), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.
Crews will begin by removing rock chips embedded in the bridge surface using a road grader. This is in preparation for resealing joints and for sealing the surface with epoxy resin and crushed rock.
Operators will scrape the northbound lanes on Monday (March 30) and the southbound lanes on Tuesday (March 31). The project is scheduled to be finished by Tuesday evening.
Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, which will slow traffic.
Motorists should watch for workers and equipment.
The Lorenzo Bridge crosses the south fork of the Snake River at milepost 326 on the border of Jefferson and Madison counties, about four miles north of Rigby.
Maintenance work on the bridge this year will smooth the surface of the deck for an improved ride for motorists and will extend the deck's lifespan.
ITD constructed the west side (southbound lanes) of the bridge in 1974 and the east side (northbound lanes) in 1980.
