Pavement preservation project to begin Sunday night (April 12) on U.S. 95 through Coeur d'Alene
COEUR D'ALENE - Five miles of U.S. 95 through Coeur d'Alene and Hayden will receive a new pavement surface, beginning Sunday (April 12), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.  The project also includes intersection upgrades, sidewalks and new curb and gutter work.

Work will be done at night to lessen the impact to motorists.  Crews will be working Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. overnight.  It may be necessary to close one lane through the work zone area, but the contractor will leave one lane open for traffic at all times.

Intersection improvements along the corridor may require closure of some intersections during work hours.  Detours will be in place during that time.  Intersections will be reopened each day after 6 a.m. (during daylight hours) for the convenience of the traveling public.

The top layer of the old roadway surface will be removed and replaced with a new, curb-to-curb, full-width asphalt surface.  Sidewalks, curb gutters and other intersection improvements will be compatible with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The contractor for this $4.5 million project is POE Asphalt Paving Inc. of Coeur d'Alene.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
