Final work scheduled Monday and Tuesday (April 13-14) to complete Franklin Boulevard Interchange Bridge in Nampa
BOISE - Final work on the Franklin Boulevard Interchange Bridge in Nampa will be done on Monday and Tuesday (April 13-14). The new bridge will be open to traffic by rush hour Tuesday night.

Traffic signals will be turned off and flaggers will direct traffic on the bridge from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Idaho Transportation Department will be striping the new interchange, synchronizing the new signals and installing cameras. This schedule is dependent on weather.

Work on the new bridge began in August 2008, and the project will be completed two-and-a-half months ahead of schedule.

"We were able to finish the project faster because of strong teamwork between the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), the contractor and subcontractors, and because of favorable winter weather conditions. Crews also worked on weekends and holidays to keep the project running ahead of schedule," said Jayme Coonce, ITD project manager.

The work on the new bridge will allow future widening on I-84.

Concrete Placing Company Inc. of Boise is the contractor for this $3.1 million project.

Funding for this project comes from the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
