Road, railroad crossing work to begin Monday (April 20) in Jerome
SHOSHONE - Road work returns to Idaho 25 (Main Street) in Jerome beginning Monday (April 20) with work on a railroad crossing and a paving project, the Idaho Transportation Department has announced.
Reconstruction of the base and planking of the railroad crossing near Interstate 84 is expected to continue through April 26. Drivers should watch for flaggers and lane restrictions during working hours.
Drivers are reminded to follow all temporary traffic control signs throughout the construction zone.
Roadwork between Interstate 84 and Birch Street will begin when the railroad crossing work is completed. A section of Main Street near Garfield Street also will be included with the road work, tying into previous sections of newer asphalt. Crews will mill the top layer of asphalt and replace it with a new layer of plant mix.
The project includes some curb and gutter work throughout the project and will install a storm-water drainage area near the railroad crossing. Work is expected to be completed by the end of July.
Idaho Sand and Gravel of Jerome is the contractor the for $1.1 million project.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
