Work resumes on junction of U.S. 12 and Idaho 7 at Orofino
LEWISTON -- Work resumed this week on a project to create a new through travel lane on U.S. 12 and improve the junction at Idaho 7 near Orofino, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Debco Construction of Orofino is installing a series of 18- and 24-inch culverts and catch basins to collect runoff from an adjacent embankment and divert it under the highway.

The work will create some minor delays for U.S. 12 traffic.

Culvert installation is part of a $2.6 million project that will improve safety and aid traffic through the U.S. 12/Idaho 7 junction. It also will improve conditions for traffic turning into Orofino.

The project includes the construction of a retaining wall on the south side of the junction. The contractor still is considering construction options to build the walls.

Construction began in October but was postponed during the winter months. It is expected to be complete late this spring.

Information about highway construction projects on state highways is available 24-hours per day through the 511 Traveler Service Web site at 511.idaho.gov or by dialing 5-1-1.
