Reconstruction of East Fork Road slated for mid-May start
HAILEY - Residents and travelers of East Fork Road in Blaine County should prepare for upcoming road construction starting in mid-May, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The reconstruction of East Fork Road is expected to begin on Monday, May 18, with removal of the road surface and the start of the excavation process.
Installation of silt fence and fiber waddles in addition to survey work will be taking place the week of May 11.
As stipulated in the contract, the contractor will be hosting the first weekly, public meeting at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at the Ketchum Rural Fire Department Greenhorn Station on Idaho 75 near East Fork Road. The weekly meetings have been incorporated into the contract to serve as informational sessions for local residents and interested citizens. Discussions will be limited to weekly construction schedules and any related delays.
Beginning May 21, the contractor intends to hold the public meetings at 1:30 p.m. each Thursday at Greenhorn Station for the duration of construction.
When completed, the one-mile section of East Fork Road between the Big Wood River Bridge and a point near Ranch Lane will include two 11-foot travel lanes and two 5-foot painted bike lanes. Disturbed areas within the right of way will be seeded with grasses and native vegetation later this fall.
Idaho Sand and Gravel is the contractor for the $900,000 reconstruction. ITD is administering the Blaine County-sponsored, federally-funded project.
ITD and local law enforcement caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
