UPDATE: Overnight lane restrictions near Orchard Interchange tonight; Orchard lane restrictions extend through Tuesday afternoon
BOISE - Motorists should prepare for an overnight lane closure on Interstate 84 near the Orchard Interchange tonight (Monday, May 4), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The eastbound inside lane will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews work on center piers for the new bridge.
Lane restrictions on Orchard Street will be complete by 3 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, May 5).
ITD is building a new bridge and ramps to replace the old Orchard Interchange and make way for new lanes underneath on I-84.
The project includes reconfiguring parts of Wright Street and Victory Road to improve traffic flow south of the interchange.
Speed limits on Orchard Street, Wright Street and Victory Road are 25 mph and 55 mph on I-84 in the project vicinity.
Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.
The $15.1 million project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
McAlvain Group of Companies is the contractor for this project.
