Construction to improve traffic safety on U.S. 20 north of Sugar City begins Monday (May 11)
RIGBY - Construction to improve traffic safety and flow on U.S. 20 at the Madison‑Fremont county line north of Sugar City will begin Monday (May 11), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

Crews will straighten the northbound curve of U.S. 20 at the Madison‑Fremont county line (milepost 340) by extending the roadway 12 feet into the median. Workers will construct road base for the extension in preparation for paving in July.

The road base project is scheduled for completion on May 21.

Paving the new 500‑foot long extension will be in connection with resurfacing a 3.3‑mile stretch of U.S. 20 from the Madison/Fremont county line to the south St. Anthony exit 344 in July.

Northbound travel will be reduced to the right lane, with the speed limit reduced to 45 mph. Work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Motorists should obey traffic signs and watch for construction workers and equipment. Orange signs with black letters or symbols and orange flags indicate construction activity ahead, even if the work cannot be observed immediately.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5‑1‑1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on state and federal highways.
