Expect I-84 lane restrictions this week between Nampa and Meridian
BOISE -  Motorists can expect intermittent lane restrictions between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges in the Treasure Valley I-84 corridor this week, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews are completing several tasks before switching traffic:

- From Tuesday to Friday (May 12-15), one lane will be closed on east- or westbound I-84 between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

- From midnight Friday (May 15) to 6 a.m. Sunday (May 17), the loop eastbound on-ramp, accessible from southbound Meridian Road, will be closed.

 - From 8 p.m. Saturday (May 16) to 5 a.m. Sunday (May 17), the second on-ramp, accessible from northbound Meridian Road, will be closed.

The Idaho Transportation Department is adding a third east- and westbound lane on I-84 between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges. The project includes reconfiguring the Meridian Interchange ramps to match the new lanes.

Traffic will be switched onto new pavement in June. A third lane in each direction will open to traffic later this year.

The project is one of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
