UPDATE: Motorists should expect overnight lane closures on Interstate 84 near Orchard Interchange Thursday (May 21)
BOISE - Motorists should prepare for overnight lane closures on Interstate 84 near the Orchard Interchange on Thursday (May 21), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The right lane on east- and westbound I-84, will be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday while crews place concrete guardrail.
ITD is building a new bridge and ramps to replace the old Orchard Interchange and make way for new lanes on I-84.
Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.
The $15.1 million project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
McAlvain Group of Companies, Inc. is the contractor for the I-84, Orchard Interchange Project.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
