Crews sweep I-84 debris between Nampa and Meridian; lanes restricted Tuesday and Wednesday nights
BOISE - Both directions of I-84 will be restricted to one lane between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges Tuesday and Wednesday nights (May 26 and 27). The Idaho Transportation Department will sweep the roadway for sand, debris and trash.
The sweeping will start at 10 p.m. and end at 5 a.m. both nights. Lane closures will rotate between the inside and outside lanes.
ITD is adding a third east- and westbound lane to I-84 between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges. Motorists can expect slight traffic changes over the next few weeks while the new lanes are paved.
The project is one of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
