Motorists should expect traffic delays on the Sand Creek Byway project beginning Monday (June 1)
COEUR d'ALENE - The installation of two utility culverts/storm drains on the U.S. 95 Sand Creek Byway project in Sandpoint will cause traffic delays beginning Monday (June 1), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Work on the culverts is expected to last through Thursday (June 4).

Work will take place just north of the Long Bridge at the southern entrance into Sandpoint. Traffic will be impacted from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Crews will limit construction to one lane-width at a time in order to maintain one lane of traffic. Each culvert/storm drain is expected to take two days to complete.

Flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone area.

Variable message signs will be placed north and south of the project area to give motorists advanced warning of the delays. Alternate routes on the state highway system include U.S. 2, Idaho 41 and Idaho 54.

ITD, the Idaho State Police and local law enforcement caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
