Highline Road in Pocatello to close temporarily, beginning Monday
POCATELLO - Hiline Road in Chubbuck will be closed to through traffic between Chubbuck Road and Siphon Road beginning Monday (June 8), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The closure is expected to continue about two weeks and is necessary for Hiline Road to be widened for about 500 feet north of Chubbuck Road.  Through traffic will be detoured to Yellowstone Avenue via Siphon and Chubbuck roads.

When the widening north of Chubbuck Road is complete, the road will align with the section of Hiline south of Chubbuck Road that is under construction.

Hiline south of Chubbuck Road is being widened as part of a major project to build four travel lanes, a center turn lane, bicycle lanes and sidewalks on Hiline Road between Chubbuck Road and Flandro Drive.

Replacement of the Interstate 86 bridges over Hiline Road also is part of the project. Widening of Hiline should be complete by October. The first interstate bridge will be replaced this year and the second will be replaced next year.  Knife River Construction, with a regional office in Boise, is the contractor on this $11.2 million project.

ITD and the Idaho State Police remind motorists that fines may double for work zone traffic violations. For construction information about state highways, access the Idaho Traveler Services Web site at 511.idaho.gov, or dial 5-1-1 from phones within Idaho.
