Westbound I-84 (all lanes) will be closed at the Orchard Street Interchange Monday and Tuesday nights (June 29 and 30)
BOISE - Motorists can expect traffic delays on westbound I-84 near the Orchard Street Interchange the nights of Monday and Tuesday (June 29-30), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Westbound I-84 (all lanes) will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night under the interchange. This will allow crews to place girders on the new bridge.
Flaggers will direct traffic each night. Drivers will exit and re-enter I-84 using the on-and off-ramps at the Orchard Street Interchange.
In addition, the southbound outside lane on Orchard Street will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to mobilize equipment during girder placement.
Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.
The $15.1 million Orchard Street Interchange project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
