Eastbound on-ramps at Meridian Interchange will be closed overnight Thursday
BOISE Motorists entering eastbound I-84 at Meridian Road will be detoured to the Eagle Road on-ramp from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Both on-ramps at Meridian Road will be closed and re-striped to give motorists dedicated lanes for merging on I-84.
The dedicated lanes will reduce recent congestion in the area.
The Idaho Transportation Department is adding a third east- and westbound lane to the interstate between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges.
The project is one of a series of improvements in the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
