Public invited to open house Tuesday (June 30) on Pancheri Overpass replacement
RIGBY - An open house on plans to replace the Pancheri Overpass in 2012 will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. next week on Tuesday, June 30, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The open house will be held at Eagle Rock Junior High School, 2020 Pancheri Drive, in Idaho Falls. The public is invited to attend the open house anytime during the two-hour period to view plans and provide input.
At the open house, the transportation department will take comment on its preliminary design for the overpass. The purpose of the construction project is to improve traffic safety by reducing congestion between Utah Avenue and Skyline Drive. Changes will include replacing the overpass, reconstructing approaches to it and improving Pancheri Drive through its intersection with Skyline Drive. The new roadway will include a shared‑use path for bicycles and pedestrians in each direction of travel.
The open house will feature displays of preliminary plans and of potential impacts on property outside of the transportation department's right of way, road access and traffic flow. Representatives from the transportation department and the City of Idaho Falls will be on hand to answer questions.
Pancheri Overpass, which spans Interstate 15, was built in 1962 and is at the end of its design life. Participating in this federally funded project are the transportation department, the Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization, Bonneville County and the City of Idaho Falls. The project is part of a larger plan by the Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization, Bonneville County and Idaho Falls to upgrade the corridor between the Yellowstone Highway and Bellin Road in Idaho Falls.
