North Blue Lakes Boulevard traffic to switch lanes starting Monday (June 29)
TWIN FALLS - Drivers on Blue Lakes Boulevard will see a major shift in traffic beginning Monday (June 29) as all vehicles will be traveling on the newly built south-bound lanes, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews completed the final construction work on the south-bound lanes, including final concrete and asphalt work in the road way and business approaches in preparation to switch traffic.

After the switch is made, the south-bound curve at the Pole Line Road/Blue Lakes intersection and two south-bound lanes will be open to traffic between Pole Line and Cheney Drive (in front of the Winco/Target shopping center). One lane will be maintained in each direction through the rest of the construction zone.

The traffic switch marks the beginning of the final phase of road reconstruction and installation of a storm water sewer system. The project contractor is currently more than a month ahead of the original schedule published in January.

Following the traffic switch, crews will remove the north-bound lanes starting at Pole Line Road and work south toward Falls Avenue. Drivers should watch for variable business access points throughout the construction zone. Drivers also should consider alternate routes to access businesses.

Crews are not expected to work from Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5. Work is expected to resume on Monday, July 6.

Drivers are reminded to follow all temporary traffic control devices throughout the construction zone. Drivers should watch for hazards and be cautious of workers and equipment at all times.

For weekly construction updates and other project information, go to itd.idaho.gov and click on Projects on the top and middle of the page, then South-Central Idaho on the left side of the next page, then U.S. 93 Blue Lakes - Falls Ave. to Pole Line Road.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
