Traffic signals to be turned off on U.S. 26 northeast of Idaho Falls for repairs Monday and Tuesday (June 29, 30)
RIGBY ‑ Traffic signals will be turned off temporarily at the intersections of U.S. 26 and Hitt Road and U.S. 26 and Idaho 43 (Beaches Corner) early next week for infrastructure repairs, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Signals will be de-activated at U.S. 26/Hitt Road on Monday (June 29) and at U.S. 26/Idaho 43 Tuesday (June 30). Stop signs will be installed in their place to create four‑way stops during the repairs. Starting at 6 a.m. both days, crews will raise the elevation of traffic control cabinets located on the highway shoulders.

Runoff caused by record spring rains flooded the cabinets, causing erratic operation. Crews will raise the power pedestals and foundations for the cabinets beyond the high water mark. The signals will be returned to service in the afternoon or evening when work is completed.
