Expect overnight I-84 lane restrictions Wednesday (July 1) near Orchard Interchange
BOISE - Motorists should expect east- and westbound lane restrictions on Interstate 84 near the Orchard Interchange Wednesday night (July 1), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Lane closures will be in place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. as survey crews work to make sure the new off-ramp is even with the interstate and provides a smooth transition to motorists exiting I-84.
Crews will close one lane at a time, starting with eastbound I-84 and continuing with westbound I-84.
Motorists should watch for survey equipment and workers on the interstate during this overnight work.
Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.
The $15.1 million Orchard Street Interchange project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
