Expect nighttime lane restrictions on westbound I-84 in Meridian July 17-20
BOISE - One westbound lane between the Locust Grove and Ten Mile overpasses on I-84 will be closed every night from Friday (July 17) to Monday (July 20) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for re-striping and
guardrail placement. The Idaho Transportation Department asks motorists to
drive carefully and expect delays when driving through the area.
In addition, on Sunday night (July 19), westbound lanes will
be shifted slightly south (about 24 feet) while crews work on the shoulder and re-stripe the roadway.
Motorists can expect slight traffic shifts on
I-84 over the next few weeks.
The work is part of a project to widen I-84 to three lanes in both
directions between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges. Construction is
expected to be completed in late 2009.
The project is one of a series of improvements in the GARVEE
Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE)
bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD and
the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when
driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties
apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit
511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
