Paving work to begin Monday on U.S. 95 (Main Street) in Moscow
MOSCOW -- Paving will begin Monday on a project that reconstructs a segment of U.S. 95 (Main Street) in downtown Moscow and several major intersections, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Work will begin on the southbound lanes. After the southbound lane is completed, traffic will be shifted to the new surface and work will begin on the northbound lanes. The highway will receive a three-inch asphalt overlay.
Reconstruction also will begin on the east half of the U.S. 95/D Street intersection Monday.
Intersections at C, D and E streets will be closed intermittently throughout the week for several hours at a time to allow the paving to be completed. Flaggers will be stationed on Almon Street at the intersections of A, C and E streets to help direct traffic through the work zone.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternative travel routes during construction.
The reconstruction project includes placing concrete pavement, installing a 12-inch water line with service laterals, adding new traffic signals, pavement overlay and the addition of curbs, catch basins and sidewalks.
The project extends from the intersection of U.S. 95 (Main Street) and A Street north for more than a half-mile to the Rodeo Drive intersection.
M.L. Albright and Sons, Inc. of Lewiston is the prime contractor for the $1.9 million project.
