Hiline Road to close for three days as part of bridge project
CHUBBUCK -- The Idaho Transportation Department will close Hiline Road for three days, beginning Wednesday (July 29) for the placement of girders at the Interstate 86 Bridge.

Through traffic will be detoured to Yellowstone Avenue via Flandro Drive and Chubbuck Road.

Setting the I-86 bridge girders is a major part of the project to add an auxiliary lane to eastbound I-86 and to widen Hiline Road from Flandro to Chubbuck Road. The additional lane will enable ITD to add a center turn lane, bicycle lanes and sidewalks.

Widening of Hiline should be substantially complete by October. The first interstate bridge will be replaced this year, with the second to be replaced next year. Knife River construction of Boise is the contractor for the $11.2 million project.

This project is related to, but separate from, a major two-year project to widen Yellowstone Avenue, Interstate 86 and I-15. Gov. C.L. Butch Otter will join local officials and Chubbuck/Pocatello citizens Aug. 12 for a 1:30 groundbreaking ceremony that will formally initiate that project, which is one of eight statewide to receive federal stimulus funding.
