U.S. 93 near Carey to reopen on Friday (July 24)
SHOSHONE - A section of U.S. 93/26 between Richfield and Carey that has been closed for about a month for an Idaho Transportation Department reconstruction project will reopen to traffic beginning Friday morning (July 24).
Traffic is expected to be restored to the section of road between mileposts 182 to 189 beginning at 7 a.m. Friday. Traffic control and lane restriction will continue while the contractor completes minor projects within the construction zone.
The reconstruction was part of a road rehabilitation project extending from the north end of Richfield to the intersection with Pagari Road south of Carey.
The section of road between mileposts 187 and 189 was closed in late June due to heavy moisture and unsafe soil conditions. The contractor was allowed to restore the hazardous area to a safe driving surface and completed all work throughout the construction zone during the closure.
The contractor, Western Construction of Boise, phased construction throughout the work zone to complete the reconstruction project about a month ahead of schedule.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
