Eastbound I-84 to be shifted overnight starting Saturday (July 25)
BOISE - Motorists on I-84 can expect a week of overnight
lane restrictions starting Saturday
(July 25) as the Idaho Transportation Department shifts eastbound traffic from two existing lanes onto two lanes of new pavement between Nampa
and Meridian.
At least one lane will be open in both directions from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. during the week, and until 7 a.m. on weekends. All lanes will be open during the day.
Motorists can continue to expect slight traffic shifts over
the next few weeks as part of the widening of I-84 to three lanes
in both directions between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges.
A new third lane will open east of the Ten Mile Overpass
in early August.
A new third lane between Ten Mile and Black Cat will be completed next year as a part
of the Ten Mile Interchange construction.
Construction is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
ITD
and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention
when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties
apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit
511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
