Construction update for eastern Idaho for Aug. 16-22
RIGBY- Here is the eastern Idaho highway construction update for 16-22:

Sunnyside I-15 Interchange to I-15B:  The concrete deck has been poured for the new Interstate 15 overpass, and concrete will be poured for the approaches this week.  Demolition of the Bellin overpass is scheduled to begin by the end of August. Work is progressing on the Snake River Bridge. Traffic on I-15 south of Idaho Falls is one lane in each direction between mileposts 115 and 117. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph.  Idaho Construction of Kimberly is the contractor for the $23 million project scheduled for completion by fall 2006.

U.S. 20, Hitt and St. Leon interchanges:  Paving is scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 29 on the northbound lanes over both interchanges. Traffic is one lane in both directions in the southbound lanes over the new interchange structures north of Idaho Falls. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Western Construction of Boise is building the $19 million project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of October.

Idaho 33, Canyon Creek Bridge:  The concrete deck is being placed for the new bridge over Canyon Creek east of Newdale. An eight-hour closure is planned later this month while the middle section of the new bridge deck is placed. The exact date and times will be announced in advance. The speed limit is 45 mph. Sletten Construction of Great Falls, Mont., is scheduled to complete the $4.3 million project by fall.

Idaho 33, Teton East and West:  Zollinger Construction of Rexburg is paving the highway from Sugar City to Newdale. Traffic is one-way and guided by pilot car. Speed limit is 35 mph.

I-15, Hamer to Dubois, northbound:  Traffic is one lane in both directions between mileposts 150 and 166. Paving is expected to be complete by the end of this week, and seal coating should start next week. Western Construction of Boise is the contractor on the $5.2 million project, scheduled for completion by Labor Day.

Idaho 87, Fish Passages:  Cannon Builders is scheduled to begin work this week on detour roads on Idaho 87 at Howard and Targhee creeks in preparation for replacing culverts and building a new bridge. Work is scheduled for completion late this fall.

Seal Coats:  H-K Contractors of Idaho Falls is scheduled to start mid-week on Idaho 32, Fremont County line to Ashton (milepost 8 -  28), followed by I-15 northbound, Hamer to Dubois (milepost 150 - 168). Motorists are reminded to slow down and keep a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid windshield damage. The South Rigby overpass is scheduled to be seal coated before Labor Day.
