Expect lane closures on I-84 tonight and Friday (July 30, 31) near Vista Interchange

BOISE - Both east- and westbound Interstate 84 will be reduced to one lane in each direction near Vista tonight (Thursday, July 30) and Friday night (July 31). The Idaho Transportation Department reminds motorists to drive with care during the overnight work.

The lanes will be closed overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow crews to place guardrail and sand barrels on the interstate near the Vista Interchange.

Motorists should watch for trucks entering and exiting the median in the project area, which is located off I-84 near the Boise Airport.

The I-84 Vista Avenue Interchange is being reconstructed to ease congestion, increase safety and improve traffic flow.

Construction is expected to be complete in September 2010.

The contractor for the $17.8 million project is Central Paving Inc. of Boise.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
