Vista Avenue restricted over Interstate 84 at night Tuesday through Thursday (Aug. 4-6)

BOISE - Vista Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction over I-84 each of the next three nights  (Aug. 4-6). The overnight work is part of the Idaho Transportation Department's project to reconstruct the Vista Interchange.

Lane restrictions will be in place overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights as crews pour concrete for the new bridge piers.

The I-84 Vista Avenue Interchange, which was constructed in 1969, is being reconstructed to ease congestion, increase safety and improve traffic flow.

Construction is expected to be complete in September 2010.

The contractor for the $17.8 million project is Central Paving Inc. of Boise.

Project construction is funded through the federal stimulus program, created to generate jobs and help boost Idahos economy while upgrading our foundation for future economic growth.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
