Orchard update: overnight lane restrictions continue; lane restrictions Tuesday (Sept. 1) on I-84 near interchange
BOISE - Lane restrictions continue through Tuesday (Sept. 1) on Orchard Street, and a lane will be closed starting Tuesday on Interstate 84 near the Orchard Interchange. The Idaho Transportation Department reminds motorists to drive with caution.
Paving work continues on Orchard Street. Lane restrictions begin at Malad Street and end just before the westbound off-ramp. One lane is open in each direction with a center turn lane. Lanes are 10.5 feet wide, and motorists, especially truck drivers and those with irregular loads, are asked to drive with care.
In addition, motorists should be prepared for the following:
- Starting Friday (Aug. 28) at 6 p.m., traffic on Orchard Street will shift to two lanes in each direction, with no center turn lane.
- The eastbound outside lane on Interstate 84 will be closed Tuesday night (Sept. 1) for guardrail removal. Crews will work from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The $15.1 million Orchard Street Interchange project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down
and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines
and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial
5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate
system.
