Blasting may delay traffic longer than normal on U.S. 95 at Genesee

LEWISTON - Motorists should expect slightly longer delays than normal on U.S. 95 near Genesee Wednesday (July 27) because of blasting, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Scarsella Bros. Construction, the project contractor, will blast rock near the U.S. 95-Genesee Junction between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Only one blast is planned. Although there should be minimal impact on traffic, motorists should plan on a delay of up to 30 minutes at the time of blasting to allow contractors to clear the highway.

Construction is part of a major expansion of U.S. 95 to four lanes between the top of Lewiston Hill and Thorncreek Road south of Moscow.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling between the two cities.
