Public invited to comment on Idaho 55 Corridor Study
BOISE - A public open house will be held from 4:30 to
7:30 p.m. next Wednesday in Caldwell to gather comment on managing Idaho 55, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The goal of access management is to reduce accidents on state highways while preserving high speeds and functionality. State and local governments will work together to limit the number and spacing of driveways and intersections along Idaho 55 in Canyon County.
Idaho 55 is the only link between the Treasure Valley and popular destinations such as Payette Lake and the Cascade Reservoir.
The completed corridor study will include an analysis of existing conditions on the highway, a forecast of future demand over the next 20 years, and a list of short and long-term improvements to Idaho 55 between New Meadows and just west of Marsing. An access management plan will be published in conjunction with the corridor plan.
