Vista Traffic Alert: Girder placement will delay traffic on eastbound I-84 Tuesday night (Sept. 22)
BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department is setting girders on the eastbound side of the interstate for the new Vista Interchange on Tuesday night (Sept. 22). The work will cause brief traffic delays near the interchange.

Eastbound I-84 will be closed under the Vista Interchange overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be directed to exit and re-enter I-84 using the eastbound ramps.

Work on the new bridge deck will continue until Sunday (Sept. 27). All lanes will be open on I-84 during the day, and at least one lane will be open in both directions at night (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.).

ITD is reconstructing the interchange to improve traffic flow and safety. The project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2010.

The $17.8 million construction project is funded through the federal stimulus program, created to generate jobs and help boost Idaho's economy while upgrading our foundation for future economic growth.

Central Paving Inc. of Boise is the contractor.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
