Orchard Traffic Alert: Flaggers will direct traffic at bridge Tuesday night (Oct. 6) for signal swap

BOISE - Crews will remove the old traffic signal and activate a new signal at the intersection of Orchard Street and the I-84 westbound off-ramp on Tuesday night (Oct. 6). The signal is being replaced as part of the Idaho Transportation Department's project to rebuild the Orchard Interchange.

At 9 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 6), crews will shut off and remove the old signal. Flaggers will direct traffic through the area until midnight, when the new signal will be activated.

The $15.1 million Orchard Street Interchange project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
