Construction update for eastern Idaho for Aug. 24-30
RIGBY - Here is the eastern Idaho highway construction update for Aug. 24-30:

Sunnyside I-15 Interchange to I-15B: Approach slabs have been placed for the new Interstate 15 overpass structure. Demolition of the Bellin overpass is under way. Work is progressing on the Snake River Bridge. Traffic on I-15 south of Idaho Falls is one lane in each direction between mileposts 115 and 117. The speed limit is 55 mph from milepost 115 to 119.  Idaho Construction of Kimberly is the contractor for the $23 million project scheduled for completion by fall 2006.

I-15, Hamer to Dubois, northbound: Seal coating I-15 (mileposts 150-168) is under way and will be completed by Labor Day weekend. Traffic is one-way in the northbound lanes, guided by pilot cars. Western Construction of Boise is the contractor on the $5.2 million project.

U.S. 20, Hitt and St. Leon interchanges: Paving the northbound lanes over the Hitt and St. Leon interchanges on U.S. 20 north of Idaho Falls is scheduled to begin next week. Excavation and grading continues on the on- and off-ramps and connector roads. Traffic is one lane in each direction in the southbound lanes. The speed limit is 55 mph between mileposts 311 and 313. Western Construction of Boise is building the $19 million project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of October.

Idaho 33, Canyon Creek bridge:
The concrete deck is being placed for the new bridge over Canyon Creek east of Newdale. An eight-hour closure is planned later this month while the middle section of the new bridge deck is placed. The exact date and times will be announced in advance. The speed limit is 45 mph. Sletten Construction of Great Falls, Mont., is scheduled to complete the $4.3 million project by fall.

Idaho 33, Teton east and west: Zollinger Construction of Rexburg is paving the highway from Sugar City to Newdale under a $1.4 million contract. Traffic is one-way and guided by pilot car. The speed limit is 35 mph.

Idaho 33, U.S. 20 to 12th West, near Rexburg: H-K Contractors will begin work this week to widen Idaho 33 to five lanes from the U.S. 20 overpass west past the Idaho 33/12th West intersection. A traffic signal and turn lanes will be installed. The project includes curb, gutter and minor alignment changes. The $576,000 project will be completed this fall.

Idaho 87, Henry's Lake fish passages: Cannon Builders is building detour roads on Idaho 87 at Howard and Targhee creeks in preparation for replacing culverts and building a new bridge. The project is a multi-agency effort to improve fish migration. Work is scheduled for completion late this fall on the $1.82 million project.
