Reminder: Prepare for traffic changes and lane closures this week on I-84 in Boise
BOISE - Plan ahead and add extra time to your drive when venturing out to purchase your Thanksgiving meal or shopping for gifts. The Idaho Transportation Departments construction projects are in full swing, and there will be detours, delays and lane closures along I-84 between the Vista and Orchard interchanges this week.

Here's a look upcoming construction in Boise:

  • Vista Interchange, Tuesday (Nov. 24) Flaggers will direct traffic on the first part of the Vista Interchange bridge starting at 10 p.m. One lane will be open in each direction on Vista Avenue. During daytime hours on Tuesday, flaggers may stop traffic at the Vista Interchange to allow paving trucks to enter and exit the work zone. All traffic will be traveling on the new bridge by 5 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 25).
  • Orchard Interchange, Monday (Nov. 23) One eastbound lane will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 24) while crews place new signs at the interchange.
  • Orchard Interchange, Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 23-24) One westbound lane on I-84 will be closed near the on- and off-ramps. Closures start at 10 p.m. each night and end each morning at 5 a.m. By Wednesday (Nov. 25) at 5 a.m., the new, permanent off- and on-ramps will be finished.
  • Demolition of the old Vista Interchange is scheduled for six nights in late November/early December.  Flaggers will divert motorists around the interstate lane closures during demolition.

There will be no construction on Thanksgiving day, Thursday (Nov. 26).
