ITD seeks public input on widening project planned near Pierce

LEWISTON - The Idaho Transportation Department will ask for public input next month on a proposed construction project that will widen Idaho Highway 11 between the town of Pierce and Pierce Pass.

Planners will provide project details during a public open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pierce City Hall, Monday, Dec. 7. Interested individuals can drop by anytime during the three-hour period to learn of project plans.

The four-mile project, which is scheduled for construction next summer, will widen the highway from 24 feet to 28 feet between Pierce Pass and French Mountain Road. The roadway also will be widened on the east side of the highway between the south city limits of Pierce and Cemetery Road.

An asphalt overlay will be applied the entire length of the project. Replacement of all existing cross drains and updating existing guardrail also will be included in the project.

The public and members of the business community will have an opportunity to view the proposed construction plans and provide comment.

Questions about the Dec. 7 meeting can be directed to Curtis Arnzen, ITD Project Development Engineer at 799-5090 in Lewiston.
