Construction on U.S. 93 north of Mackay to start Monday (Dec. 7)
RIGBY ‑ Construction on a two-mile segment of U.S. 93 north of Mackay will begin on Monday (Dec. 7), the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

Crews will reduce the incline of shoulders on both sides of U.S. 93 between mileposts 109 and 111. Work will take place between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph in the construction zone.

Access to public and private roads along the stretch of U.S. 93 will be maintained, and intersecting roads will remain open.

The project will be completed by Christmas, weather permitting.

Motorists should anticipate trucks and road graders operating in or near travel lanes. When completed, shoulders of the two-lane federal highway will be flatter, improving safety for cars if they leave the travel lane.

ITD trucks will use gravel from the fish hatchery pit on the west side of U.S. 93 at milepost 119.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
