I-84 traffic alert: Expect closures and delays between Nampa and Meridian this weekend (Dec. 11-14)
BOISE - The
Idaho Transportation Department is planning a busy weekend of construction on
Interstate 84. Starting Friday night, interstate travelers should expect
closures and delays between Nampa and Meridian.
- On Friday night (Dec. 11), all lanes of
I-84 will be closed between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges while the Ten
Mile Overpass is demolished. Traffic will be detoured to Franklin Road the night of the demolition. The bridge will be down for about 17 months - it is expected to re-open in summer 2011.
- On Saturday night (Dec. 12) and Monday
night (Dec. 14), the Garrity westbound off-ramp and one westbound lane will be
closed. Crews will be installing a new sign at the exit. Traffic can exit at
Franklin Boulevard in Nampa (Exit 36) during the closure.
All closures will
begin at 10 p.m. and end by 7 a.m. On weekdays, closures will end at 5 a.m.
Because snow or
rain could delay the closures, motorists are encouraged to check 511.idaho.gov
or dial 5-1-1 when planning their commutes.
Construction in
this area is funded by the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant
Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate
improvements.
