Southbound lanes of Vista Avenue under construction starting Sunday night (Feb. 7)
BOISE
- Work to widen Vista Avenue begins Sunday
night (Feb. 7) and continues through Feb. 22. The Idaho
Transportation Department advises that motorists will see a lane restriction
between Wright and Elder streets while crews work overnight.
The southbound outside lane will be closed
nightly from 10 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following morning.
Crews will remove curb, gutter and sidewalks to
widen Vista Avenue.
The speed limit will be 25 mph, and shoulders
will be closed. Flaggers may stop traffic briefly to move equipment in
and out of the area.
Crews will move to the northbound lanes later
this spring.
The Idaho Transportation Department is improving
Vista Avenue as a part of the interchange reconstruction project. When
complete, Vista Avenue will include right- and left-turn lanes onto Wright
Street and Airport Way near the Boise Airport.
The I-84, Vista Interchange is expected to be
completed in summer 2010.
The contractor for the $17.8 million project is
Central Paving Co. Inc.
ITD and the
Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when
driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties
apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit
