Washington Street pre-construction meeting set for Wednesday (Feb. 10)

TWIN FALLS - The residents and business owners in the area of Washington Street between Addison and Filer avenues are encouraged to attend a pre-construction meeting on Wednesday (Feb. 10) to discuss the first phase of the Washington Street extension project due to begin in mid-February, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the City of Twin Falls Council Chambers offices at 305 3rd Ave. E. in Twin Falls. The meeting will be directed toward residents and businesses along the construction route, but is open to the public.

The reconstruction will tie together widened sections of roadway near the intersections at Addison and Filer Avenues. The widened section will include a storm water drainage system, center median with left turn bays, and new sidewalk. Construction is expected to be complete by mid-June.

Gordon Paving Company of Twin Falls is the contractor for the $1.7 million project sponsored by the city of Twin Falls. The federally funded project is administered by ITD.

The reconstruction is expected to begin on Feb. 15.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
