REMINDER: Washington Street construction to begin Tuesday (Feb. 16)
TWIN FALLS - The Idaho Transportation Department reminds motorists that the reconstruction of Washington Street North between Addison and
Filer avenues is scheduled to begin Tuesday,
(Feb. 16).
Crews will begin with excavation and installation of irrigation and storm water
systems throughout the project limits. Road widening and construction will
begin later this spring. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction
for the duration of construction. Left turns will not be allowed within the
construction zone.
The reconstruction will tie together widened sections of roadway near the
intersections at Addison and Filer avenues. The widened section will include a
storm water drainage system, center median with left turn bays and new
sidewalk. Construction is expected to be complete by mid-June.
Drivers are reminded to use extreme caution in the work zone, be mindful of
workers and equipment and follow all traffic control signs. Drivers should be
prepared for altering traffic patterns throughout the duration of the project.
Gordon Paving, of Twin Falls, is the contractor for the $1.7 million project
sponsored by the city of Twin Falls. The federally funded project is
administered by ITD.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution
motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where
increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to
plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state
highway or interstate system.
