CORRECTION: Another step of Franklin to Garrity I-84 corridor work in Nampa could start this spring
The completion date for this project is actually mid- to late fall 2010 (not summer 2010 as previously reported). Also, the corridor is from Franklin to Garrity in Nampa.
BOISE - A project which represents another step toward improving I-84 between Franklin and Garrity interchanges in Nampa moved forward Feb. 18 as bids were opened on the project, which is expected to begin this spring.
McAlvain Civil Constructors, Inc. of Boise is the Apparent Low Bidder for reconstruction of the 11th Avenue Bridge project over I-84, after submitting the low bid of $4.1 million, the lowest of seven bids received from prospective contractors.
Construction is expected to start by late spring and be completed in mid- to late fall 2010.
Reconstruction of the bridge is required to make room for an additional
lane in each direction on I-84 between Franklin and Garrity.
Reconstruction will require complete closure of the 11th Avenue Bridge for approximately four months.
During this time motorists
will need to use alternate routes for north-south travel over I-84.
The reconstruction of the 11th
Avenue Bridge and Franklin to Garrity widening is one of several interstate
improvements projects occurring in an 18-mile stretch of I-84, funded by the
GARVEE Transportation Program. The program uses proceeds from Grant
Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to accelerate highway improvements
throughout the State of Idaho.
