Lane reductions, brief delays expected through Horseshoe Bend the next several weeks
BOISE - Traffic on Idaho 55 through Horseshoe Bend and immediately north of the town will be limited to one lane on an occasional basis for the next several weeks, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

An $800,000 project to widen and resurface the highway is nearly complete. It is designed to move traffic more quickly through the town by adding a center turn lane and wider travel lanes. Striping and the addition of a seal coat will cause brief delays.

Flaggers and a pilot car will lead motorists through the project as needed. Delays of 10 minutes or less can be expected when lanes are reduced. Motorists should use caution in the work zone.

Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays.  No work will take place from noon Friday (Sept. 2) until Tuesday morning (Sept. 6) because of the Labor Day holiday.

Idaho Sand and Gravel is the contractor on this project that began in late May.
