Reconstruction of Eighth Avenue in Jerome to begin Wednesday
JEROME -- The reconstruction of Eighth Avenue between Lincoln and Date streets is expected to begin Wednesday (March 10), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will begin with excavation and installation of irrigation and storm water systems throughout the project corridor. Road widening and construction will begin later this spring. The street will be closed to through traffic, but one lane will remain open for residential access only.

The reconstruction also includes new curbs, gutters and sidewalks as well as drainage systems and widening. Work is expected to be complete by the end of May.

Drivers are reminded to use extreme caution in the work zone, watch for workers and equipment, and follow all traffic control signs. Residents should be prepared for short, temporary closures.

Gordon Paving of Twin Falls is the contractor for the $796,000 project, which is sponsored by the city of Jerome. The federally funded project is administered by ITD.
