TRAFFIC IMPACTS: I-84 lane closures in Treasure Valley starting tonight (Thursday, March 11)
BOISE -
The Idaho Transportation Department advises motorist driving westbound on
Interstate 84 in the Treasure Valley that they can soon expect a few
changes due to construction on the Garrity and Ten Mile interchanges.
All are
weather permitting:
- One
lane of westbound I-84 will be closed overnight tonight (Thursday, March 11) near the future Ten Mile Interchange.
- I-84
westbound will be reduced to one lane
between the Robinson Road Overpass and Garrity Interchange overnight Friday (March 12) from
10 p.m. to 5 a.m. This is an overnight closure for guardrail installation and
re-striping. Two lanes will be open by Saturday morning.
- I-84
westbound will be reduced to two lanes
between the Robinson Road Overpass and Garrity Interchange starting Saturday (March 13). This configuration is expected to
last the next few months while crews prepare to shift traffic to the median.
- In
addition, I-84's westbound off-ramp at the Garrity Interchange has been reduced to one lane. This configuration
is expected to last the next few months while crews prepare to shift traffic to
the median.
The speed limit has been lowered to 35 mph on Garrity Boulevard and 55 mph on I-84 through the construction zones.
ITD
and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention
when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties
apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit
511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
