UPDATE: I-84 lane closures for Garrity project postponed to Saturday night due to weather
BOISE
- Because of a very high probability of rain, the re-striping that was scheduled
for overnight tonight (Friday, March 12) has been postponed to overnight
Saturday (March 13), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
I-84 westbound will be reduced to one
lane between the Robinson Road Overpass and Garrity Interchange Saturday
overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. This closure also includes guardrail
installation. Two lanes will be open by Sunday morning.
Once the re-striping is complete Sunday morning, I-84 westbound will be
reduced to two lanes between Robinson and Garrity for the next few months while
crews prepare to shift traffic to the median.
In addition, I-84's westbound off-ramp at the Garrity Interchange has been
reduced to one lane. This configuration also is expected to last the next few
months. Additional signage at Robinson will provide advanced warning to drivers
of the configuration at the ramp.
The speed limit has been lowered to 35 mph on Garrity Boulevard and 55 mph on
I-84 through the construction zones.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution
motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where
increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to
plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state
highway or interstate system.
