REMINDER: Several overnight closures in next few weeks for I-84 between Meridian and Garrity Interchanges
Weather permitting;
the overnight closures will take place over the next three weekends. Motorist on I-84 overnight should use Franklin Boulevard as an east-west alternate route.
Westbound I-84 will be closed the nights of:
March 20 (10 p.m. - 5 a.m.)
March 26 & 27 (10 p.m. - 7 a.m.)
The closures are needed to remove an overhead sign near the Garrity Interchange and work on
a falsework system at the site of the new Ten Mile Interchange. The falsework is a bridge support work platform - a temporary bridge upon which the new bridge is constructed.
In addition, two overnight (10
p.m. 7 a.m.) closures are expected on eastbound I-84 in early April for continued
work on the falsework system at the Ten Mile Interchange.
I-84 Westbound Alternate:
Meridian Road Exit 44; north on Main Street; west on Franklin Road; south on
Idaho Center Boulevard; west on I-84 at the Garrity Boulevard Interchange. Click here for map of detour.
I-84 Eastbound Alternate: Garrity
Boulevard Exit 38; north on Garrity Boulevard/Idaho Center Boulevard; east on
Franklin Road; south on Meridian Road; east on the I-84 at Meridian Road
Interchange.
The $15 million Garrity
Interchange and $33.8 million Ten Mile Interchange projects are expected to be completed in
the summer 2011.
ITD and the
Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when
driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties
apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit
511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
