REMINDER: I-84 traffic will be detoured Friday (March 19) for sign removal
BOISE - Westbound I-84 will be closed between the
Orchard and Cole/Overland interchanges the night of Friday (March 19) while the Idaho Transportation Department removes two overhead signs near the Orchard Interchange.
Weather permitting, the sign removal
will begin at 10 p.m. Friday. Work is expected to be complete by 7 a.m.
Saturday.
Flaggers will direct interstate
travelers to exit at the Orchard Interchange and re-enter I-84 at the
Cole/Overland Interchange. The westbound detour route will be Orchard Street to Victory Road
to South Cole Road. Click here
for a map of the detour.
The signs are being removed to allow for
widening of I-84 between the Cole and Broadway interchanges. A second sign will
be removed later this month.
Concrete Placing Company is the contractor for the $35.9
million widening project, which is expected to be complete in summer 2011.
ITD and
the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when
driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov
for information on the state highway or interstate system.
