I-84 and Garrity to be closed briefly near interchange Sunday (March 21) for rock removal
BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department will stop traffic on I-84 and on Garrity Boulevard near the Garrity Interchange Sunday morning (March 21), while crews demolish and remove a rock outcropping. This is the fourth such Sunday closure.

Weather permitting, the delay is anticipated to last a maximum of 15 minutes and occur sometime between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. The closure time may be rescheduled or delayed in the event of rain or the accumulation of moisture leading up to the work, since too much mud in the median may result in equipment getting stuck.

Traffic will be held about one-quarter mile from the Garrity Interchange on I-84 (both east- and westbound), and just before the on/off ramps on Garrity Boulevard. The delay is necessary for the safety of workers and motorists traveling through the work zone.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
